Third-generation restaurateur Matt Martinez plies his Tex-Mex trade in this popular Lakewood spot. It's also famous for chicken-fried steak. There's a variety of low-fat/Larry North items, but ones we tried were bland. Closed Sundays.

We may have lost Mariano’s Mexican restaurant in Old Town, but never fear, Mariano’s has reopened on Skillman. Mariano’s Hacienda continues to serve its famous margarita and warm salsa and gooey Tex-Mex. Just when we thought Mariano’s was down for the count, it came back to fight another round, and the new place is a knockout.

Manny has outdone himself in creating the perfect Tex Mex food and atmosphere located in Uptown. The service is attentive and warm! Food quality is always consistent! Drinks are excellent! Everyone is so friendly and the menu so varied, people love going there for Sunday breakfast (after church) and ordering their "chorizo con juevos".
