Although The Cheesesteak Sandwich originated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Philly Connection® concept was developed and introduced to Atlanta in 1984 with the first restaurant opening – that first restaurant continues to operate today! The company then opened additional locations and, in 1988, franchise operations commenced.

In 1996 the first Roly Poly Sandwich Shop opened for business in the Buckhead section of Atlanta, Georgia. Company founders Linda Wolf and Julie Reid had been rolling sandwiches in their shops in New Canaan, Connecticut (‘86) and in Key West, Florida (‘96) before settling on Atlanta to officially begin building their franchise system. Today, there are over 125 Roly Poly Sandwich Shops throughout 24 states.

Potbelly Sandwich Shop began in 1977 as a small antique store run by a nice young couple. Despite the fast-paced, never-a-dull-moment world of antique dealing, the couple decided to bolster their business by making sandwiches for their customers. What began as a lark, turned out to be a stroke of genius. Soon, people who couldn't care less about vintage glass doorknobs were stopping by to enjoy special sandwiches and homemade desserts in this unusual atmosphere.

The first Great Outdoor Sub Shop began operations in December of 1973 in downtown Dallas. Being a New Jersey native, I brought with me the knowledge and drive to make a better sub than the one I was making in New Jersey at a local deli. My intention was to fill the authentic eastern style submarine sandwich void. I knew that if I made an authentic "New Jersey" sub, using the highest quality meats and cheeses on Fresh Baked Bread, I could not miss! Being passionate and striving for perfection and uniqueness, I added to my old standbys some newly created custom subs and various proprietary items such as custom formulated & shaped breads and oven roasted fat free turkey.
