Owner-chef Erol Girgin's Café Istanbul serves up an impressive range of tasty Turkish specialties in an attractive space in the Inwood Village. The house specialty, Istanbul Doner, is a standout. Something like gyros--though with more of a meaty texture and less grease--it consists of seasoned beef and lamb marinated overnight, grilled and served with rice and vegetables. Also superb was the Kiymali Borek, a pastry filled with ground beef, onions, parsley and spices. Everything we tried was well-prepared and presented with care, and the prices are reasonable, too.
