Café Athenee's former owner has found a casual outpost in Constantin's Café, one of the few local eateries featuring authentic Eastern European cuisine. Make that home cooking; Constantin's is an attractive, homey space with a small lunch buffet. You can also order from a limited menu, featuring chicken, veal and sausage plates. The buffet, though limited in choices, is a bargain, and it always features superb homemade bread and homemade pasta. Try grandmother's soup--a chicken base with egg swirls and parsley--off the menu to be instantly transported to the Old World. A small deli counter features some of Constantin's pasta, as well as bread, sausage and cheeses.
